Research, Research, Research

So I don't know if anyone else in is in the same boat as me, but I'm having a hard time finding time for my own research, let alone yours.  So if you want to be helpful, I'm looking for info. on agriculture. I need to determine how much space is required to have 3 or 4 cycles of vegetation growing throughout a year for individual fruits and vegis. Stats on average family consumptions with break downs to diet and food eaten. What foods will grow in winter months, and what is required as far as needs for U.V. light and heat. Many thanks.

  1. Hi Shawn,

Iv'e found a site that speaks about a variety of things when growing produce in a greenhouse. Here is the website, seems pretty decent.

I didn't find anything on space requirements though.

    Peace

  3. Hi Sean,
I found a StatsCan website that may be able to help you,
    http://www.statcan.gc.ca/ads-annonces/23f0001x/hl-fs-eng.htm

It does a nice break down of the Canadian diet, and how much of each type of food Canadians eat. Hope this helps!

P.S i know how you feel about finding the time haha, if you see anything on solar panels I can use it. Costs, power output, etc.

  10. Hey Shawn,

I found this blog that shows pictures of and costs related to what families around the world are eating. I think it draws a pretty cool comparison to countries that grown their own food, vs countries that buy everything from grocery stores and fast food restaurants.

  11. INTERESTING. I NEED TO FOCUS ON ONE DIETARY GROUP THOUGH. IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GROW EVERY FOOD, SO I'M TRYING TO KEEP IT TO A CANADIAN TYPE DIET. THANKS
