design layout

ISO OF HOUSE. YES THERE IS A HOUSE BEHIND IT ALL.
Ok, so I've been working on some design layouts for this project. This one is my second attempt. Obviously space is a concern. This layout is just over 3000 sq ft with the majority of my green space indoor. I've manage to figure out most of my mechanical concerns. I think that hydro-phonics is the way to go to pull off this idea. Originally I thought that PV panel could produce the heat I needed, but it seems that using water barrels as a massing unit is more effective. The area in which the produce will be growing needs it's own sealed envelope. Moisture and heat need to be controlled for ideal growing parameters. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on the design.

  1. Hi Shawn,

I think your design looks just peachy. I have a few links for you. You probably already have climate stats but here is a pretty good outline for Kamloops.

Also, I found a book "Food and Heat Producing Solar Greenhouses" It has step by step construction designs of livable greenhouses and a whack ton of tips. (I like page 47 dealing with rolling blankets for the glass in the night times.)

    Hope this helps ya buddy.

  2. THANKS MIK,

I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. THAT'S MY SECOND DESIGN, AND I WORKED THIS ONE AROUND SPACE REQUIRED FOR GREENHOUSE INSTEAD OF A GREENHOUSE ATTCHED TO THE HOUSE.

  4. THANKS ALYSSA,

VENTING IS APPARENTLY A BIG ISSUE WITH WHAT I'M TRYING TO PULL OFF. THE GREENHOUSE WILL PRODUCE A LOT OF HEAT, AND QUITE SMELL AS WELL.
